Week 1 Focus... Love the Lord my God with all my Heart, Mind, Soul & Strength!
This first week we will focus on our relationship with God. Are there any gods before Him in our lives? Are there any images we have made to represent Him? Do we call ourselves Christians and not live like it, thus, using His name in vain? Do we honor Him in the Sabbath? If the answer is no to some of these questions, then, make a course correction (repent) and enjoy the journey with Him.

Day 1...

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."

Psalm 27:14

Good morning 1-2-17.

As we embark on this journey, let's consider God's plan for us and the whole world. First of all, we are to be confident that He who began a good work in us, is able to to complete it as we trust in Jesus. Second, His plan for us is not for our harm, but for a hope and a future. Third, He is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should repent (turn around, change their mind).

So, as we wait on the Lord, His presence will encourage, strengthen and calm our hearts.

Enjoy the journey!

Day 2...

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you."

James 4:6-8

Good morning 1-3-17.

As we humble ourselves and walk with the Lord on a daily basis, let us realize, it’s His desire to walk with us. The proud don’t even consider humbling themselves and there is no way they are going to submit to the will of God. Our choice to humbly submit ourselves to God is the resistance which makes the devil flee. Then, the bonus is, the Creator of the world and all that is in it will come near to us as we desire Him.

Walk with Him; He is here!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 3...

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

James 1:2-4

Our Father is not asking us to do something impossible here. He is allowing us to experience His presence in everything; even trials and testing. His presence is drawn, by faith, to our side. Yes, faith produces in us perseverance and perseverance is hard at work making us mature and complete. You and I cannot become mature without perseverance. This journey with perseverance has as it's completed work; nothing lacking.

Trust Him! He is with you through it all!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 4...

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

Psalm 51.17

(The death God requires is the door to the birth of a New spirit; the birth and humility of the heart, O God, you will not have to humble, for it is there already.) My translation of Psalm 51.17

The above translation may not be "technically" correct, but is in keeping with the essence, character and spirit of the heart God treasures.

Do you desire God's attention or presence? This verse tells us just how to get it. For God knows exactly what motivates our heart. We cannot hide it from Him, but when we humble ourselves and call to Him; He hears us.

We are not God, but we can detect when someone is "full if it", trying to impress or flatter us just to get their way. So, be real with God. He treasures our humble attitude and longs for us to spend time with Him. No, He does not need to "take" us, as many say about someone who dies. He pursues us to fellowship with us right here and now.

He awaits our humble heart; step into His presence.

Enjoy the journey!

Day 5...

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

2 Corinthians 5:21

Where did the average person come up with the idea that God hates them? Or, when something bad happens to them that, God is punishing them? This verse clearly show that He (Jesus) who did not know sin became sin for US, THAT we (you and I and everyone else) might become the righteousness (made right, pono, forgiven, accepted and loved) of God in (through his actions and sacrifice of) Him (Jesus)! If everyone would just read the Bible, it would plant the truth in their lives and set them free!

Are you struggling with your relationship with God? Allow Him today to confirm His undying love for you by, reading His love letter to you (bible) and sitting still. He will help you to know He is God and He is on your side.

God, forgive me for allowing the negative thoughts about You cloud my relationship with You. Thank You for sending Your Son to take my place of punishment and judgement. I now know, how much You care for me.

Draw closer to the one who loves you.

Enjoy the journey!

Day 6...

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."

1 John 5:14-15

Do you have confidence in Him? If not, you can, because He hears us. This in itself is amazing! How wonderful it is to have God's full attention and know He will give us our petition as we ask according to His will.

Is healing His will? Is peace His will? is salvation for our spouse, children, siblings, friends, neighbors and even enemies, His will? Yes it is! Go, chance'um, dare to ask, ask boldly, and prepare for His will to come on earth as it is in heaven.

He is waiting. He is listening. He is, and the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Go, go, no scared'um, go get'um!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 7...

"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward."

Hebrews 10:35

Without confidence, we handicap what God wants to do in and through us. This is what God's guidance tells us.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (based on human strength), but mighty in God (Spirit powered) for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing (thought or thinking) that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity (bound and made ineffective) to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish (rebuke, correct) all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled." 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Knowing that God does not depend on our strength and abilities, we can do anything He wants us to. Let's place our confidence in Him alone.

Yes, it's true! He longs to use you.

Enjoy the journey!

Welcome to Week 2 Focus... Love my neighbor as myself.
For this week, we will focus on loving our neighbor as ourself. This sounds easy, but it involves letting God search us for any fears, hurts, offenses, prejudices, and other things we struggle with so, He can set us free to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Jesus set the example by saying (from the cross) "Father, forgive them for they don't know what they are doing." We all need help in this area. Enjoy the journey!

Dr. Leaf can help with this journey of ours.

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

3 John 2

As we focus on Loving our neighbor as ourselves, but it starts with us, "loving ourselves", so, let's start with the question, "How am I doing?" or "Where am I?"

If we don't love ourselves we cannot love others If we don't know where we are in life as far as our heart is concerned, then we have a problem. Have you seen this sign before in a mall?

This sign is not judging us or saying we are stupid, but it is telling us where we are so, we can begin our journey. My prayer as we begin this "loving yourself so we can love our neighbor" journey is that we will succeed, prosper in all things and be healthy as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide, guard and govern us.

Health and healing is ours!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 9...

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Genesis 1.1

Once you know where you are, you can begin to be creative. God always gives us "new" beginnings and a clean slate when we "humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways." During this time, it is important for us to ask God to search us and show us if we have any sinful ways in us. The good news is, God will forgive us and fulfill His plan in our lives.

Start now! God is waiting for us to spend time with Him!

Enjoy the journey!

So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Luke 10:25-37

(As you can see, not all the verses are here. Please take the time to read the whole passage.)

"Who is my neighbor?" As you read this passage, you will see clearly who is your neighbor. Here in Hawaii, we, I believe, go above and beyond to help Malihini (new comers) feel at home amongst us. We still need to have God's heart for those who are suffering and in need. Sometimes we will be called to go out of our way to assist our neighbors.

The goal is to have God's heart for all.

Enjoy the Journey!

"...submitting to one another in the fear of God.

                                                                             Ephesians 5:24

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:1-4

Yes, your spouse, children and parents are your neighbor. The way you treat the ones of your own household is an indicator of how you treat God. Remember, Jesus said, "‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

Something to think about, work on and do.

Enjoy the journey!

"Good thoughts open way for blessings of God." Here's a link.

"Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers."

Ephesians 4.29

The King James Version of this says, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

We all know that most of our disagreements/arguments/fights/conflicts come from they way we speak to each other. This verse tells us how to speak to one another. "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,..." This should have a period at the end of the sentence, but it doesn't. The Holy Spirit (God) instructs us how we should speak. "but that which is good to the use of edifying,..." Use only words which build up and not tears down is basically what it says. And, "that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Did you know, your words minister to those who hear you? Even when you have long gone out of their presence, your words are still resonating in their heart and mind. So, let's watch our words. Someone said, "Words are like bullets; they cannot be retrieved once released."

Shoot to build up, not kill.

Enjoy the journey!

"...that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

2 Corinthians 1.4

Have you ever been comforted? Were you blessed by it? Have you heard the saying, "You don't know what they are going through until you've walked a mile in their shoes."? Well, there is someone out there who could use your words of comfort, because you have walked in their shoes (situation). Everyone wants to be whole. Everyone wants to know they are cared for. Plus, many long for someone to understand what they are going through. You and I can be a blessing to them as we share, care and understand.

Loving our neighbor includes comforting them.

Enjoy the journey!

32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

1 Chronicles 12.32

As we spend this next week praying for God to give us wisdom to understand our times we will know what we ought to do about it. If God used the men of Issachar to help Israel, then God is just waiting for us to seek Him for the same knowledge and understanding for our times. This wisdom will help us to foil any plans the enemy has for our island. Yes, God wants to use us to fulfill His plan for the people we love and live with. He knows what is coming and the future, so He has no problem letting us know what to do or how to prepare.

Looking forward, in exciting times.

Enjoy the journey!

Week 3 Focus... A Hope and A Future...

God's word to us is, " For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." These words are to give us assurance as we trust and obey His Word. Even as times get rough or like Israel being in exile, God has plans that includes, "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." This is our goal also, "not willing that any should perish..." God promises deliverance. God promises a hope and a future with, "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity." Let's trust His promise!

"I know..."

Jeremiah 29.11

Along with God's promise for a hope and a future, there are other Prophets that God speaks to us thru. Amos is one of them. Listen to what God says through him, " For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us. In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God." Amos 9.9-15

We can see how God has already fulfilled this prophecy. Israel  will never be pulled up form it's land again, but before this time God sifted Israel to see who was faithful. I believe God is sifting His people to find out who is faithful.

This time of fasting should be a time of checking our hearts so as to prepare us for whatever God has planned in these last days. Jesus asked, "When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?"

Let's be found faithful and bless His Name!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 16...

"...the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."

Matthew 24.3-6

If we are to know our times and what to do, we must not be deceived. Jesus first warning is that, "many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." The problem with deception is that you don't know when you are being deceived. Jesus also says, "see that ye be not troubled." With the Holy Spirit leading us into all truth, we can rest assured that He will give us discernment so we will know when and who deception is coming through.

Our walk with Him is not a blind one. He leads us!

Enjoy the journey!

Day 17...

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

Matthew 24.7-13

We can see many of the things Jesus is speaking about here happening today. Wild fires and floods happening at the same time just states apart. Fake news tearing down people and causing offense. Love as cold as hard wax. BUT! Those who endure to the end shall be saved!

This is why we are spending this time praying for God's wisdom and guidance. He alone knows what is coming and how to overcome it. Ask Him, He will not scold you for asking. In fact, He cherishes our communion with Him.

Listen to the Spirit and...

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

Matthew 24.14

Here Jesus tells us when the end will come. He makes it clear that the Gospel has to be preached to the whole world, then the end will come. With the internet, wifi, TV, cable and radio which reaches to the whole world; why hasn't it come yet? Here is the answer: "Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” and, "The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." His patience towards us is what is holding back judgement. You see, He is not willing that ANYONE should be destroyed (perish) and we all know the wages for sin is death. Let's seek the Lord on how we are to reach all the lost. Nothing is impossible for Him! His heart breaks for the lost!

Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, Knock and the door will be opened for you... Keep asking... Keep seeking... Keep knocking!

Enjoy the journey!

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;"

Isaiah 43.1-3

Going where you have never been and doing what you have never done is kinda scary and God know this. That is why He comforts us with these words. "Fear not!" "I have called you!" "YOU ARE MINE!" Walking with the Lord insures we will pass through and not be overflowed, burned or scorched. "For I AM the Lord, the Holy One, your Savior." These are not empty words. They are promises from the Only God of the Universe.

Walk with Him, now and forever and...

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;

Isaiah 11.2-4

The Holy Spirit will give us Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and the Fear of the Lord. Then, as we delight ourselves in the Awesomeness of God, He will help us to not judge by what we see, not decide by what we hear and judge righteously our situation. As a son or daughter of God, we are blessed to have Him guide us this way. Our future depends on judging rightly; not like the world judges. As we pray, let's ask Him for this daily. What an awesome God we serve!

Let's, with His power and might, represent Him with joy as we...

"God doesn’t miss anything. He knows perfectly well all the love you’ve shown him by helping needy Christians, and that you keep at it."

Hebrews 6:10

God see and remembers your investment. As we conclude this fast, our investment of spiritual seed by faith will bring forth a harvest if we do not give up.  The key is not to quit. You have come this far by faith.  Continue to allow faith to power and encourage you; fast or no fast. Thank you for your faithfulness. Let's continue to Love the Lord our God and Love our Neighbor as ourselves. Plus, looking forward to an awesome future!

Let's do this as we...
